Bosses just have too much health, and it’s a slog to get through some battles. Any difficult game will have enemies that just suck, but for me personally Hollow Knight has a lot more of those than other games (Soul Twisters can suck my dick and balls) Also, I feel like because in Hollow Knight you can heal often in most boss fights it allows the devs to create longer more tanky boss fights that just aren’t my favorite. There’s also more enemies that are just really frustrating to fight. I do like Hollow Knights world but there’s only so far you can go with bugs, a lot of enemies feel really similar. Hollow Knight is definitely the more mechanically sound game, it feels much better to control, a lot more fluid. Sure it does sometimes, but not nearly to the extent Blasphemous does. My favorite area would probably have to be Graveyard Of The Peaks because of how nice it looks, really fun enemies and a very fun boss at the end.Ī complaint I have about Hollow Knight is that to me just doesn’t give me that “wondering what is happening” feeling like Blasphemous does. The pixel art on the game is phenomenal too, the backgrounds look beautiful and going to a new area is a joy. I’m huge horror fan and Blasphemous is just really creepy, it gives off that “what the fuck is going on here” feeling that I enjoy. I think the atmosphere, aesthetic, and world it creates is really a massive thing that makes it my favorite metroidvania. Of course learning to parry late would be easy for me, but why would I bother when it's painfully boring and the game doesn't reward it compared to other options? I would rather just boot up 3rd Strike, max the difficulty, and parry the CPU.
BLASPHEMOUS MAP MARKERS WINDOWS
The point in saying I was parrying early was to illustrate that enemy telegraphs are so egregiously slow that no one would intuitively expect parry windows to be that late. When you see the attack coming and have to stand there like you're waiting for an elevator to arrive before parrying, it has the opposite effect. The whole point of a parry system is to reward players who can predict and react to enemy attacks very quickly. Why would it be? I played fighting games dude I'm perfectly capable of learning frame data and parrying on time.īlasphemous attacks telegraph so far ahead that it's much faster and more efficient to just kill the enemy before the attack lands, or jump over and avoid them entirely, than to sit there waiting ages for the parry window to start.
